Korean Air Launches First Direct Flights to Lisbon

Airlines & Airports

Korean Air has marked a significant milestone in its European expansion with the launch of its first direct flight from Incheon to Lisbon, Portugal. The inaugural flight, KE921, took off from Incheon International Airport on September 11, marking the airline's entry into the Portuguese market.

Celebrating the Milestone

A special ceremony was held at Incheon Airport to celebrate the launch, attended by key figures including Keehong Woo, President of Korean Air, and Kwang Ho Ko, Vice President of Korean Air's Korea Regional Headquarters. Representatives from Portugal were also present, including H.E. Susana Vaz Patto, Ambassador of Portugal to South Korea, and Inês Pereira de Queiroz, Director of Visit Portugal for Japan and South Korea.

Flight Schedule and Details

Korean Air will operate direct flights between Incheon and Lisbon three times a week—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The schedule for the new route is as follows:

  • Flight KE921: Departs from Incheon at 1:10 pm and arrives in Lisbon at 8:10 pm local time.
  • Flight KE922: Returns from Lisbon at 10:10 pm and lands in Incheon the next day at 7:10 pm.

Flight KE921 takes 15 hours and 10 minutes, while KE922 covers the return leg in 13 hours.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Service

The new route is serviced by Korean Air’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which features 278 seats, including 24 in Prestige Class and 254 in Economy Class, offering a comfortable and modern travel experience for passengers.

Lisbon: A New Gateway for Travelers

Lisbon, the vibrant capital of Portugal, is renowned for its Manueline architecture, iconic yellow trams, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower. It’s a popular destination for both honeymooners and backpackers, offering a rich cultural and historical experience.

Before the launch of this direct route, Korean Air passengers bound for Portugal had to transfer through neighboring countries like Spain or France. This new service simplifies travel to Lisbon, making it easier for travelers to explore both the city and nearby regions.

Strengthening Korean Air's European Presence

With the introduction of this direct flight, Korean Air aims to strengthen its foothold in the European market. The airline continues to expand its network across Europe, offering more convenient travel options for passengers heading to the continent.
