Norwegian continues its UK expansion

News

The low-cost company Norwegian will operate two new routes from London Gatwick to Keflavik, Iceland and Rovaniemi, Finland. Starting October 30th, Norwegian will be ready to fly from UK to the Reykjavik, Iceland. More, three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) will easy the route for tourists to Keflavik.

Also, as a holiday surprise, starting just in time for a Christmas getaway on the December 19th, Norwegian are offering twice-weekly flights to the official home of Santa Claus. The flights will operate on a Monday and Friday.

Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian said: “We are committed to offering low-fares with choice and flexibly for our passengers. Both Reykjavik and Rovaniemi are fantastic additions to our growing UK route network, which now serves more than 50 destinations nonstop. The addition of these new routes and extra capacity to some of our most popular winter destinations will make this our busiest winter at London Gatwick. Our affordable fares start from £29.90, so we expect Brits to flock to the Icelandic island and Lapland this winter with the added bonus of free Wi-Fi on board.”

Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate said: “Norwegian is one of Europe’s fastest growing airlines and we welcome their continued expansion at Gatwick. These latest new routes show Norwegian providing new low cost services to destinations people want to fly to. I expect these routes will be as successful as Norwegian’s others, including their ground-breaking low cost long-haul routes to the US. I look forward to continue close working with Norwegian on what looks like being their busiest year at Gatwick yet.”

In June, Norwegian introduced new routes to Malaga and Alicante alongside a summer-only route to Barcelona which launched in April to add to its growing route network of business and leisure destinations from Manchester. Europe’s third largest low-cost carrier offers the UK’s only direct low-cost flights to the U.S. with fares available from £135 in economy and £399 in Premium to destinations including Boston, Las Vegas and Oakland-San Francisco from London Gatwick.
