Paris Airport Fixes Luggage Breakdown, Olympics 2024 Concerns Arise

A luggage equipment malfunction that occurred at Orly airport in Paris, resulting in operational disruptions and the manual handling of baggage, has been successfully resolved.

As per statements from the airport's operator, ADP, and various airlines, this situation led to numerous flights experiencing delays and departing without passengers' checked luggage. Marc Rochet, who oversees operations for French Bee and Air Caraibes airlines that utilize the affected terminal, disclosed that flights departed with delays ranging from one to three hours, all while passengers were left without their checked baggage. The stranded luggage within the terminal was eventually relocated to a secure location and subsequently loaded onto upcoming flights. ADP sought to mitigate the impact of these disruptions by redirecting planes to alternate terminals at Orly Airport and Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Clement Beaune strongly condemned this situation, deeming it 'unacceptable.'
