Amadeus Acquires Biometric Technology Company Vision-Box

Amadeus is purchasing Vision-Box, a provider of biometric solutions for airports, airlines, and border control, for 320 million euros.
Amadeus' acquisition of Vision-Box, a leading provider of biometric solutions for airports, airlines, and border control, is set to significantly enhance the company's growth in the biometrics sector, as per Amadeus' President of Travel, Decius Valmorbida. He noted that Vision-Box's portfolio is a perfect complement to Amadeus' existing biometric capabilities, highlighting their past collaboration, such as the biometric-based boarding program with Lufthansa.
Founded in 2001, Vision-Box has seen its digital identity solutions employed in over 100 countries. Vision-Box's founder and CEO, Miguel Leitmann, expressed excitement about the acquisition, envisioning a transformative impact on the travel experience by integrating and orchestrating various players and systems into a cohesive digital ecosystem. He anticipates this integration will enhance user experience and efficiency in several key performance areas.
The acquisition will bring about 470 Vision-Box employees into the Amadeus fold. The deal is expected to be finalized in the first half of this year, subject to regulatory approvals.
