Jamaica's Tourism Industry to Generate Huge Revenues
Jamaica anticipates a powerful comeback of the tourism sector this winter season, accounting for a total of $1.4 billion in earnings.
According to a statement released by Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, the anticipated revenues are premised on the complete revival of the cruise industry and the booking of 1.3 million air tickets for the time.
As Bartlett estimates, there will be a record number of visitors to Jamaica this winter, with 950,000 tourists expected as stopovers and 524,000 expected as cruise passengers.
A profit of $1.4 billion US dollars is projected. More like $1.5 billion, which is up 36% over 2019 and much more than the US$1.094 billion generated in 2018, making 2023 the best winter profits year Jamaica has ever had. Having a robust NIR (net international reserves) indicates stability and development of the country's foreign exchange.
“We’re back to normal and I want to really thank all our stakeholders for the enormous work that they have put into enabling this very strong growth-filled recovery”, Bartlett stated.
An increase of 29.6 percent in layover arrivals is anticipated by Bartlett for the next winter of 2022/2023. According to his projections, this season Jamaica is expecting 1.47 million tourists, a whopping 67.5 percent rise over last year's 879,927.
