Lufthansa Signs Memorandum of Understanding in Rome
Lufthansa Group and Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane S.p.A. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Rome this week.
It is hoped that the two companies will negotiate a deal for a cooperation on feeder traffic within Italy. This is to ensure that all modes of transport are connected in a more efficient and customer-friendly manner.
Further discussions are ongoing to determine the exact program's layout. The relevant authorities would need to approve the execution of the cooperation if a contract has been signed.
Lufthansa Group is leading the charge in intermodality
Similar intermodal cooperation programs are already in place by the Lufthansa Group in its home markets, including OBB, SBB, and Deutsche Bahn. The Lufthansa Group offers more than 3,000 weekly bus or rail connections to passengers from over 40 cities. Lufthansa has been a partner in Deutsche Bahn since 2001 for train connections between its airports (LH Express Rail).
