On Certain Destinations, Amtrak Is Now Offering Tickets For Just $5

News

Here's the"Night Owl Fares" to attract customers who are flexible with their schedules and don't mind travelling off-peak - Amtrak now provides late-night tickets at a steep

It has been announced by Amtrak that some lines along the Northeast Corridor will now offer discounted "Night Owl Fares," with fares beginning as low as $5. These tickets are valid for overnight train rides connecting Washington, DC and New York City between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Amtrak said this is a good choice for those coming back after shows or games, or for passengers who like to leave later or earlier in the day.

For example, prices for trains between Philadelphia and Baltimore/BWI, between New York and Newark, and between Washington, DC and Baltimore/BWI begin at under $5. New York-Philadelphia, New York-Wilmington, Philadelphia-Washington D.C., and Washington D.C.-Wilmington are $10 each. And for $20, travellers may go all the way from New York to Washington, DC.

Discounted rates are offered for coach seats, which allow passengers to carry two personal items and two bags at no additional cost. If you're trying to unwind on a late-night train ride, the "silent car" is the place to be. There, passengers are requested to keep noise to a minimum, cell phones are prohibited, and the lights above you are dimmed.

Amtrak has ambitions to improve its midnight and long-distance trains in addition to these increased evening charges. Furthermore, the business is investigating which passenger conveniences would be most welcome on these trains. The company is also currently upgrading the Northeast Corridor with new Acela trains that will have features like baggage lockers that don't need touching and wing-shaped seats.

Amtrak is now waiving adjustment costs through the end of 2023 for bookings booked before that date. However, if a Saver Fare ticket is cancelled within 24 hours of purchase, the traveller will only be entitled to recover 75% of the original price of the ticket in the format of a non-refundable eVoucher, in addition to any applicable cancellation costs.
