SF Group Picks Changi Airport as Its First Overseas Hub

Mergers and Appointments (MICE)

Changi Airport has landed a major vote of confidence in its role as Asia's premier air logistics hub, signing a five-year strategic partnership with SF Group — China's largest integrated logistics provider and the world's fourth largest — to become the company's first overseas hub.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed on April 30, will see SF Group use Singapore as its base for expanding reach across Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Oceania. The partnership leverages Singapore's strategic geographic position and Changi's established role as a global consolidation and transshipment hub to tap into the rapidly growing air trade flows across the Asia Pacific region.

Under the agreement, both organisations will work to progressively strengthen SF's network at Changi, improving connectivity with major markets across the three regions. The focus is on high-value and time-sensitive cargo — the kind of shipments where speed, reliability, and seamless handling matter most.

SF Airlines, the aviation arm of SF Group, is already China's largest cargo airline with a fleet of over 90 freighters and currently runs daily freighter services between Singapore and Shenzhen. The new partnership builds on that existing presence, giving SF a formal hub structure from which to scale its international operations.

For Changi, the deal adds another heavyweight name to an already strong express cargo ecosystem that includes DHL Express, FedEx Express, and UPS — all of which operate regional hubs at the airport. CAG CEO Yam Kum Weng described the partnership as bringing together the best of both networks to move high-value goods more seamlessly across the region and beyond.

SF Group Chairman Dick Wong framed Singapore as a key node in the company's global expansion strategy, citing the country's connectivity and partnership ecosystem as central to delivering more competitive cross-border logistics solutions to customers navigating an increasingly complex global trade environment.
