Songtsam to build a zero-carbon property in Tibet

Songtsam luxury boutique network has recently announced the beginning of the construction of the company’s first zero-carbon hotel. Songtsam Linka Retreat Lake Basong Tso will feature 120 rooms and will be the brand’s 16th and largest retreat.

 

The area chosen for the construction is extremely popular among pilgrims, hiking and outdoor experiences enthusiasts. Songtsam Linka Retreat Lake Basong Tso will be based in the vicinity of Cuogao and Xincuogou mountains and Basong Tso lake in Gongbujiangda County, Nyingchi, in Tibet. The retreat will be reachable from the city of Lhasa or Potala Palace in only a 4 hours trip by car.

According to its owner, the hotel will perfectly blend into the amazing Tibetan panorama, in addition for serving as a model for other regional hospitality facilities aiming to commit to sustainability. In addition of targeting a zero-carbon emissions implementation, Songtsam also stands for the preservation of local values, as well as a revenue increase for the local communities.

Besides offering exclusive services for its guests, the hotel aims to donate 5% of its operational profits to the neighbouring Jieba community each year. Moreover, Songtsam Linka Retreat Lake Basong Tso will employ at least 120 locals from the surrounding area.

Songtsam Linka Retreat Lake Basong Tso is set to open in July 2023.
