Tenth Edition of Art Dubai Opens Today

The tenth edition of Art Dubai, an event that brings together much of the representatives of the art market in the Middle East, opens its doors on Wednesday with the participation of 94 galleries from 40 countries. The art fair, which includes works of about 500 artists of 70 nationalities, came over time to be an important source of income for Dubai because it attracts more and more visitors, according to AFP .

Art Dubai plays a significant role on the local cultural scene, but could also have an economic impact on the city and the whole country. According to a study conducted by Repucom office during Art Week 2015 in Dubai which  organized Art and Design Days Dubai, visitors spent 35 million dollars just for the two wards (18 and 25 March last year). The study, published in early March do not include sales of works of art made privately between collectors and galleries.

Dubai, whose oil resources are declining, has the most diverse economy in the Gulf, with developed financial sectors, real estate, tourism and entertainment, established itself as a tourist center in the region. The emirate, which has built its reputation on grandiose projects, such as the highest tower in the world, Burj Khalifa, and one of the largest shopping centers in the world, Dubai Mall, obtained organization Universal Exhibition of 2020 where he hopes to attract 25 million visitors.
