Two year waiting list for Hang Son Doong
Located nearby the Laos-Vietnam border, The Cave of the mountain river, Hang Sơn is one of the most famous caves in the world, as of 2009 it has the largest known cave passage cross-section in the world and a large, fast-flowing subterranean river. Tourists must wait two years in order to visit the huge cave, writes the Telegraph.
The cave, located in Vietnam, was discovered in 1990 by a local who stopped just by the entrance. The whistling sound of wind and roar of a rushing stream in the cave heard through the entrance as well as the steep descent prevented the local people from entering the cave. By 2009, when the first expedition was organized inside, nobody visited the cave. After 2013 the first official tours were organized while interest in visiting the cave Hang Son Doong has increased so much that now there are incredible waiting lists. The waiting time: more than two years.
Oxalis Vietnamese agency is the only tour operator authorized to organize the tours in the amazing cave of the National Park Phong Nha-Ke Bang. Last week, the travel agency has published the new data for cave’s tours to be organized in 2017 and the tickets were sold in only 20 hours. Hang Son Doong cave can only be visited by 500 people a year to prevent disturbance of the ecosystem from the inside.
With a length of 5 km, visiting the cave takes about five days, and two more days before and after the actual expedition. The trip costs $ 3,000 per person, which also includes $ 660 for the entry free in the national park, according to data on the travel agency site.
