Miraval Resorts & Spas Announces New Brand Collaborations

News

Miraval Resorts & Spas announced details about its 2023 brand partnerships to support its core brand pillar, creating a life of balance through mindfulness.

The 2023 highlights include continued collaborations with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and the establishment of a new collaborative relationship. These carefully selected brand collaborations promote workplace wellness and self-care culture. This allows them to have a greater focus on positively impacting their colleagues' wellbeing and empowering them to offer exceptional service to Miraval visitors.

"The Miraval brand is built with the intention of supporting integrative, whole-person wellbeing through purposeful human connections," stated Susan Santiago, head of lifestyle and Miraval operations. "Through the evolution and expansion of our collaborations, Miraval Resorts are able to make a lasting, positive impact on our guests, colleagues and extended community with meaningful tools to build resilience and create a balanced life."

National Alliance on Mental Illness - NAMI

The third year of the Miraval brand's collaboration to NAMI, the nation’s largest grassroots mental healthcare organization, has seen a shift in focus. It is now promoting balance and caring for caregivers, as well as a better life for guests and colleagues. Miraval Austin hosted an NAMI HelpLine team retreat in January. This group of volunteers and staff members is dedicated to supporting those affected by mental illness. This retreat provided a place for rest and reconnection to support NAMI's holistic wellbeing. NAMI thought leaders will be present at all Miraval Resorts & Spas' Authentic circle Appreciation Weeks in 2023. Additional mental wellness sessions for Miraval colleagues will also be offered. Other highlights include NAMI providing data and resources for a Miraval colleague's mental wellbeing tool. Previous collaboration highlights include a series of soundscapes, meditations, and videos on NAMI's Hearts+Minds site. This website was created to increase awareness about the connection between mental and physical wellbeing.

"Miraval Resorts are valued collaborators with NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This year, Miraval Austin generously hosted a retreat for the NAMI HelpLine team," mentioned Jessica Edwards, CDO, NAMI. "Every day, this team provides help and support to thousands of people navigating mental health challenges and the Miraval brand made it possible for them to experience a much-needed retreat where they could pause and focus on their wellness. You cannot pour from an empty cup, and NAMI is so grateful that our HelpLine team was able to recharge, so they can continue to support the people who need us. Supporting workplace mental health is hard yet essential work. Both management and colleagues have an important role because everyone benefits when we bring our full, authentic selves to work."

Dr. Alfiee Breland - Noble

Dr. Alfiee is a psychologist, scientist and author who has been a leading figure in mental health. She founded The AAKOMA Project to address mental health issues for young people of color and intersectional youth, as well as youth with disabilities and LGBTQAI+ youth. Miraval Resorts & Spas & Dr. Alfiee will collaborate to increase awareness around diversity, equity and inclusion through a series retreats and colleagues sessions in 2023. This year Dr. Alfiee will host three "Caring for our Caregivers” sessions in person that focus on cultural responsiveness training and self-care for Miraval colleagues.

These sessions will provide colleagues with access to mental wellness resources, enabling them to have a more fulfilling work-life integration by mindfulness. They also empower Miraval colleagues in creating a safe and inclusive environment at work. These sessions were inspired in part by the first Elevation: Diverse Women's Retreat, which hosted non-profit mental health and social impact leaders at Miraval Arizona's Miraval Arizona in 2022. It was a transformative experience that included conversations about the creation and elevation of safe spaces for caregivers. Miraval Berkshires will host a leadership retreat for Dr. Alfiee, along with a group of colleagues, to recharge and reset. Miraval Austin will host Dr. Alfiee’s second annual Elevation Diverse Women’s Wellness Retreat.

"When we met with the Miraval team, we immediately clicked around the shared values of mindfulness and equity in mental health. At The AAKOMA Project, we embody my personal value of creating space for human authenticity, self-acceptance and self-love," mentioned Breland-Noble. "Coupling these values with Miraval Resorts' life in balance philosophy, AAKOMA and Miraval Resorts have built a collaborative relationship that authentically integrates our shared values and DEI in the wellness arena."
