Pizza Hut Museum is a real thing and it’s worth paying a visit

News

The Original Pizza Hut is the first Pizza Hut museum and it has been recently opened to the large public at Wichita State University in Kansas. People have already started visiting it.

Pizza Hut restaurants can be found not only in the US, but all over the world and there are millions of fans of the brand that would put any meal aside, no matter how delicious it may be, in exchange for a pizza with cheesy bites, for instance.

However, there’s a new thing now that fans of this brand should definitely try and that is to visit the Original Pizza Hut Museum.

Opened only several days ago in Kansas, this museum dedicated to the US chain that so many people love is located in the exact same building that held the first restaurant of this type. The relocated building can be found in the campus of Wichita State University in Kansas, which is the same school that Frank and Dan Carney (the founders of the restaurant) attended to when they were young.

What does the museum offer?

Every Pizza Hut aficionado should consider including this location on their “to visit”-list. Visitors can discover the history of the brand and see various artefacts, watch videos of the first commercials and even take great photos at the selfie station with Pizza Pete.

Additionally, students living on the university campus can also take advantage of this opportunity, as they have the chance to learn various roles such as curators or museum docents, not to mention about the possibility to improve their marketing skills.

Starting 7 May, the museum will be opened Monday and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Tuesday-Thursday from noon to 4 pm.

Worth mentioning is that a Museum of Pizza is scheduled to be opened in New York in October this year and promises to provide visitors with interactive features and to create the perfect play place for every pizza aficionado interested in having some cheesy good time.

The beginnings of Pizza Hut

Everything started in 1958, when two brothers – one was a freshman at Wichita University and the other was a recent graduate of the same school – decided to start a restaurant to sell pizza. This Italian dish was just beginning to grow in popularity in America.

For their restaurant, they chose a small building located on the corner of Kellogg and Bluff and they managed to involve everyone they knew in their business, from family to friends and to fraternity brothers. They named it “Pizza Hut”.

Their humble beginnings didn’t stop them from growing the business more and more. They managed to take the name of their restaurant overseas, thus making it one of the most recognizable brands in the entire world.

The building used as their first restaurant site now resides on the Wichita State campus in Kansas and is now open again to tell the story of two young entrepreneurs that shocked everyone with their dream and desire for success.
