Chinese manufacturers declare that the longest glass bridge will be ready to use by the end of this year

The construction of the longest glass bridge in the world is coming to an end. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge is situated about the Tianmneshan National Park, in the Chinese Province of Hunan. One of the main reasons of building the entire bridge of glass is to ensure a spectacular view for all the visitors of the National Park, renowned for its incredible mountain landscapes.

As the engineers in charge had declared, the bridge will have a total length of 430 meters, a 6 meter width and will be lift 300 meters above the ground. In order to reduce the vibrations that could affect the structure of the bridge, it has been full-rigged with more than 70 glass balls, every one of them measuring 750 kg, declared for the China Daily newspaper Wan Tianbao, the chief engineer of the project. The specialists have made more than 100 tests in order to prove that the bridge can hold a charge equivalent of 800 people.

In an interview for the Inhabitat magazine, Joe Chen, the general director of Zhangjiajie Canyon Tourism Management Company declared that there will be no just one swing attached to the bridge, but three of them, including a giant swing with a total length of about 170 meters.

The first tourists will be able to visit the glass bridge only by the end of this year. Until now, the official date of the construction inauguration has not been revealed.
