We Are Victoria Falls and Cape Town Tourism Create the Ultimate African Adventure

News

The CTT Chief Marketing Officer Leigh Dawber and Mrs. Barbara Murasiranwa–Hughes announced the partnership at the founding ceremony.

Research shows that Africa is opening up to tourists. The 'Ultimate African Adventure,' as it is known from international source markets, includes at least two African cities. To tick off your bucket-list, it makes perfect sense to connect the two Natural Wonders of the World of Africa in one incredible adventure.

After the announcement of a new partnership between the newly launched tourism community of Victoria Falls (We are Victoria Falls) and Cape Town Tourism, (CTT), the greatest falling water sheet in the world, Victoria Falls and Table Mountain will see an increase in international and local visitors.

At the Three Monkeys Restaurant & Bar in Victoria Falls, the CTT Chief Marketing Officer Leigh Dawber and Mrs. Barbara Murasiranwa–Hughes, Chair of We are Victoria Falls Board, announced the partnership at the founding ceremony.

CTT and the World Bank partnered to host a group from the Victoria Falls public sector and private sector participants on a peer exchange in Cape Town in September 2022. CTT (a global leader in destination marketing) shared their best practices and gave advice on how to create a sustainable organization.

This partnership will evolve into joint marketing initiatives to promote the two destinations on the theme of "African Routes". We are currently working with key airlines, private sector operators and other stakeholders to launch a campaign in 2023 that explores ways to encourage travel between the destinations through sharing tourist markets and encouraging visitors to both.

Ms Murasiranwa Hughes mentioned that "The support and advice from CTT has not only helped inform the solid grounding we find of the DMP (Destination Marketing Partnership) we launch today, but marketing together from the onset will further support in fast-tracking our business objectives and prosperity of Victoria Falls."

Following the historic first ever Global Tourism Resilience Day announcement, the We Are Victoria Falls announcement was made. This DMP, along with the new DMP, emphasizes the importance of fostering resilient tourism development through private and public cooperation, especially in developing countries. This day was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly as a resolution. It raises awareness about sustainable tourism and connects people to nature, promoting environmental responsibility, conservation, and income generation.

Dawber ended with, “A huge congratulations to We Are Victoria Falls for bringing their vision to life as this is no small feat, and we are looking forward to collaboratively exploring ways to position and uplift tourism within an African context, by developing ways to inspire travel between our two destinations and then share any learnings and successes with the rest of the continent".
